Birchbox Haul – The May Box 2018

06/05/2018

I’ve recently been obsessed over beauty subscription boxes lately and being surprised by what will be in the next months box. It’s a bit like buying yourself a surprise gift and being overly happy when it arrives on your door step because you just don’t know what is going to be inside!!! I was very torn between what beauty subscription box to go for last month and was doing my research (aka watching tonne of videos on YouTube and seeing which one floated my boat more) and I decided to go with Birchbox. I ordered my first box during April so this months box is only my second one, however it’s safe to say I am obsessed. To be honest, one thing that sold me for Birchbox was the fact that the box design changes every month and the box is re-usable and super cute. I use mine on my desk and put my little stationary bits that I use daily. I actually unboxed last months box on my insta stories, so I may not do a blog post every month on what I got in my Birchbox as some months, it may be on my insta stories, so don’t forget to follow me on HERE ( I’m also super close to reaching 2000 followers on there – whoop whoop – ) !!

So how does Birchbox actually work?

Birchbox is a beauty subscription box where you sign up and ‘subscribe’ in order to receive a box every month with 5 different beauty products in, ranging from sample sizes to full size products. Each month the box design changes according to the season/event/holiday of that time of the year. So during spring and summer you’re likely to get a v floral box and during Christmas it’s likely to be a festive one. You can cancel anytime if you like, so for example if your going to be on holiday for a month or so and won’t be home then you can cancel for that month and re start back again whenever you want to. The products are personalised for your own needs and interests. When you first join Birchbox, you’ll get asked a bunch of questions about your skin type, hair type and colour, brow shade, what type of makeup look you like and so on, so that you can receive products in your box that you will actually use and enjoy.

How much is a Birchbox subscription?

You can subscribe on Birchbox for monthly, for 6 months or yearly and obviously the longer you subscribe for the more expensive it is. Monthly prices are £10 and £2.95 for delivery. For 6 months it’s £60 and £2.95 for monthly delivery, so you do still pay for delivery every month. Lastly for yearly subscriptions it’s £110 and £2.95 for monthly delivery. If you subscribe for a monthly box, then you will be charged £12.95 on the 01st of every month unless you cancel. However, if it is your first time subscribing to Birchbox then you can use my link which I will pop down to get £5 off of your first box… which means ONLY £7.95 for 5 products and a beautiful box (total bargain if you ask me)!!!

Now that I got the FAQs out the way I can finally show you what I got in my May box. I just wanted to cover these questions as first time buyers may have questions regarding how it worked and the prices, just like I did last month.

1. Doucce Luscious Lip Stain in Amber Rose.

RRP: £21 || I received a sample size. ||

The first product I received was this lip stain by Doucce, in the shade Amber Pink and I received this in a sample size. This is in the formula of a liquid lipstick. I actually swatched it on my wrist and it’s v v pigmented and it dried instantly and was difficult to get off with a face wipe, which is a good sign of a liquid lipstick as it will stay on my lips for a long time.

2. Greenfog Botanic Geranium & Peppermint Botanical Bodywash

RRP: £8.95 || I received a sample size – 50ml .|| Cruelty Free & Vegan ||

The next product I got was this Natural Body Wash by Greenfog Botanic and I got it in a sample size. The sample size is 50ml so a pretty good size to test it out for a couple washes. It’s smells so strong of mint and herbs which I don’t actually mind because I quiet like that smell. I’m actually not going to use this at the moment and keep it and take it on holiday during summer as it’s the perfect size to take when travelling.

3. Benefit Hoola Bronzer

RRP: £25.50 || I received a sample size. ||

One other product that I received in my May Birchbox is a sample size of the Benefit Hoola Bronzer. I mean this bronzer is a classic and I actually have another sample size of this which came in a birthday set. I won’t really use this one until I use up the one I already have.

4. Spectrum Collections A05 Precision Blush Brush

RRP: £6.99 || I received the full size. ||

Another product which I got in my Birchbox was this Spectrum A05 Blush Brush and it is the full size product as well. This is actually my first Spectrum brush and it’s a cute baby pink colour. The bristles are super soft as well. However I think this would be better for contour/bronzer as it’s slightly angled.

5. Luseta Beauty Keratin Smooth Conditioner

RRP: £19 || I received a sample size – 40ml. ||

The last product I received in my Birchbox is this Luseta Beauty Keratin Hair Conditioner. I received it in a sample size which is 40ml. I’m quiet excited to try this conditioner as my hair definitely needs it as I have such dead and dry ends. I will actually take this on holiday with me *again* as it’s a sample size so perfect for travelling.

This is all 5 products that I have received from my Birchbox this month. Don’t forget that you can use my link which is above to receive £5 off of your first Birchbox subscription, which I think is such a great deal. Hope you enjoyed reading this blog post and comment down below if you have tried any of these products.

    I used to have a subscription to Birchbox but I ended it early last year as the products became repetitive and the boxes were nothing special/not worth keeping. This year, they have really stepped up! That box is so pretty, could use that a blogger prop and the products in this month’s box seem good too! I love spectrum brushes, I got my first Spectrum brush in a birchbox actually, and it has to be the best brush I own. Might have to resubscribe!

  7. I really need to sign back up to a beauty sub box – it’s been so long since I’ve received one! I had to cancel my one due to lack of funds unfortunately but I’m hoping I’ll be able to start one back up again soon. This is definitely going to be on the possibility list, the products look so nice, especially the natural body wash!

    Wow, this box is worth it for the Spectrum brush alone! I think these beauty sub boxes are a great idea if you’re the kind of person that likes to frequently switch up their makeup/skincare routines. This is a great way to try new products and discover brands you might not have even heard of before.

    I love the design of the box too.

    I always want subscription boxes but talk myself out of it because I know my skin is too sensitive for half the products I’d get. This month’s box looks like a really good one. I’ve never tried Spectrum brushes yet either x

  29. I’ve never subscribed to a subscription box before. I always thought they would be filled with things you didn’t need or inexpensive junk but SPECTRUM BRUSHES? I would have been sooo pleased with that. And the packaging on this box is fabulous, must have been exciting getting that through the post! You’ve won me over I think!
