This should come as a no surprise that I’m a skincare ADDICT!! I’m always looking out to try new skincare bits and bobs and love treating myself to new skincare products. I’ve been testing out quite a few products lately and I thought I’d give them a little review on here! I’m all for the glowy and healthy radiant looking skin so that’s the type of products I tend to go for when trying bits out. My skin type is combination skin and I tend to get oily around my T-zone and have dry patches on my cheeks. I will also be doing a post on my fave face masks soon, so keep ya eyes peeled for that!
1. L’Oréal Smooth Sugars Clear Scrub
I’ve used this scrub from L’Oréal probally about 3 times and I brought it about 2 weeks ago. I’m trying not to over exfoliate my face as I can get pretty dry skin when I exfoliate too much. I’ve heard such good things about this scrub so I thought I’d give it a go. I’m still not sure if I like this product or if it’s doing something good to my skin in the long run! My skin instantly feels super soft and smooth after using this and I feel like it definitely purifies my skin from excess oils and leftover makeup! This product is quiet jelly like in texture and has little pieces of kiwi seeds in it which are meant to exfoliate your skin. This product states that it helps get rid of blackheads, but I’ve only used it a couple times and I suffer with blackheads around my nose, but haven’t seen a difference yet. I’ll still use for a longer period of time and give my proper verdict on it soon!
2. The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask
This was a bit of a impulse purchase but I’m so glad I brought it. This charcoal face mask from The Body Shop has small extracts of tea tree leaves in it so it smells lush! It has a thick clay like texture to it with tea tree bits and dries on your skin within 20 to 30 minutes and hardens on your face. It’s quite difficult to wash off as the tea tree leaves literally stick on your skin and make it difficult to wash off. However, once it’s washed off the mask leaves your skin so smooth and radiant looking and the next morning it gives you that ‘healthy looking glow’ which looks so natural and fresh. I’d definitely repurchase this mask and would want to try out the other masks from The Body Shop too!
3. The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution
Glycolic Acid has become an obsession of mine in the recent months and a staple within my skincare routine too! What Glycolic Acid initially does is it gently exfoliates your skin by removing dead skin cells from the surface of your skin and leaving a lovely glow to your face. I always use a toner during my skincare regime and I had been using the Pixi Glow Tonic but I’ve ran out and purchased this one from The Ordinary whilst at Covent Garden! The Pixi Glow Tonic and this Glycolic Acid is initially the same thing and does the same job, however the Pixi one has 5% Glycolic Acid and The Ordinary one has 7% Glycolic Acid. After using this one by The Ordinary I have definitely found that it’s more effective on my skin and exfoliates better than the Pixi one! The Ordinary one stings a tiny bit when applied to the face but I feel like it’s a good sting and doesn’t hurt at all and it has helped with getting rid and preventing spots and blemishes from my skin! I really like this Glycolic Acid from The Ordinary and would deffo purchase again as you get more product in it than the one from Pixi, even with its larger sized bottle and it’s a tonne cheaper aswell. I got this bottle for about £6 and I have already used it for about 2 months and there’s still loads left in it!
4. The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Serum
The Ordinary is very famous for its serums as it’s purely the acid product in itself and it’s known to be very effective on the skin. I’ve picked up this Niacinamide 10% plus Zinc 1% serum has I heard it’s helpful and effective for spots and blemishes. However I’m not sure if I’ve got on quiet well with this product, as it really stinged my face and made it quiet itchy after instantly applying it and the next morning as well. But I did find that it has reduced the redness I had from my spots. I will test this out again in conjunction with other products and hopefully that works out well! I do want to try out thier other serums and moisturisers as well as I heard thier really good!
5. Lumene Overnight Bright Sleeping Cream
I had received this moisturiser in my April Birchbox hence why it’s a sample size. I love this night cream so much as it instantly makes my skin bright and glowy and gives me a healthy radiant skin in the morning. It has a thick texture to it and works really well at night as I tend to use thick moisturisers at night! It very hydrating and feels amazing on the skin. I would deffo buy the full size of this as I really liked it! You can also get £5 off of your first Birchbox order by shopping through my link HERE!!
Those were all of the skincare products that I am testing out at the moment and I hope you enjoyed reading this post! Comment down below if you have tried any of these products before and how did you get on with them?
