Summer Travel Essentials 2018

23/06/2018

With only less than 20 days left for my summer holiday to Turkey, I’ve been slowly thinking about what to pack, how to and what to take in my handbag when I’m travelling around Turkey! I’ve compiled a list of essentials that will be with me pretty much everyday when I’m in and travelling around Turkey! Now I’m going Turkey for about 2 months which is the longest I’ve ever been gone for, so I really did have to think strategically when compiling these essentials!

Firstly, I’m obviously taking my phone with me (no brainer) to take all of those luscious insta pics ya know, and obviously to communicate with people. The only thing that goes hand in hand with my phone obviously would be a pair of headphones and my portable charger! I love me a good book to read when I’m on holiday either when I’m sunbathing or chilling at home, and the ‘Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine’ book is one of the books I’m taking with me.

It’s super hot in Turkey at the moment, especially Izmir (the city I’m going to) and the last thing I want is a red face from being sunburnt, so a sunscreen with SPF 50 is definitely an essential for me and I will be wearing it everyday! I currently use this one from Garnier and I really enjoy it as the sunscreen itself is white but it doesn’t leave a white tint on your face and in fact it gives a perfect glowy base as well. I’ll be carrying this mini roll on perfume by Coach in my handbag just to freshen up during the day in those hot days, and it’s the perfect size to take on the plane with me as well.

Next up of course I’m taking my Ray-bans with me, I only brought these a couple weeks ago so it’s still new to me and it was an exciting purchase as I wanted to treat myself pre summer holiday and I wanted these cult classic round ones for ages! They fit perfectly on my small round face (lol) and I already love them!

Wouldn’t really be a summer holiday for me, if I didn’t take my Polaroid camera with me!! I love love love this Polaroid camera for instant photos and it’s just such a great thing to have to capture the memories in the moment! The Polaroid films are pricey and if you want to use it on a regular basis then it can get quiet expensive, however I only use it when I’m on holiday and on special occasions and events. However, recently I was lucky enough to find a box of 80 Polaroid films for £30 on ‘Wish’ which is a total bargain and it ended up saving me about £35 in total. So if you really look for cheaper film alternatives you really can find some good ones out there.

Last summer holiday, I started a summer travel journal, where I documented nearly everyday of my summer travels for a month with Polaroid’s, little doodles, anecdotes and notes, tickets, receipts and wristbands from the places I’ve been to. I obviously wanted to do another one this year, as I’m going for a longer period of time and will be travelling solo (for the first time) to Turkey and besides that I will be doing more travelling in Turkey so obviously I want to document that in the moment. It does get a bit hard having to carry around a journal, pens and washi tapes around with me when I’m in Turkey but I managed it last year so will do this year as well. These travel journals are definitely something I’d keepsake for as long as I can as they capture the best moments of my holiday.

As the lip balm hoarder I am, I will deffo be taking a couple with me as I literally cannot live without applying one! I’ll be taking this benebalm by Benefit, as it gives a perfect red tint to the lips but keeps them so soft and hydrating! I’m also taking a few of Glossier’s balm dot coms as the Glossier fan girl I am!

These are all of my summer travel essentials that I will be carrying around with me for the vast majority of my summer trip. Hope you enjoyed reading this post and comment down below what are some of your summer travel essentials?

Like you, I take books on trips with me. Thanks to technology and my husband’s old Amazon Kindle, I’ve found that I can bring multiple books with me without having to compromise space in my purse or luggage. XOXO.

I love these posts! I always bookmark them for when I go on holiday and I feel lost as to what to take. I’ve wanted a fujifilm instax for the longest time, I’ve heard the film is expensive, is it worth getting?
